Together, let’s create an Educational Center for Berber women in their village
Since 2010, the association Le Savoir au Village is devoted to the education and the economic development of women in "three villages" (Douar Batn Chih, Zmar et Douar Al Àbd), located about 100 kilometers southwest of Marrakech in Morocco.
The initial goal was to create a Center of learning where Berber women were motivated to:
• Learn how to read and write
• Learn a trade
• Share and exchange ideas
• Support women’s initiatives through micro credit financing
• Get acquainted with sustainable farming
Gradually, women have included their children in the project.
Women - the heart of village development
The association Le Savoir au Village was created by and for the Berber women. The goals of the project faithfully reflect the aspirations of the women. It is a unique initiative in this region. Experience shows us that these women are a dynamic source of ideas and formidable vectors for the diffusion of learning. In a quite natural fashion, they share their newly acquired knowledge with members of their families, and the rest of the community.
Action on a human scale
The association supports more than 250 women and children by providing them with training to enable them to improve their daily lives all the while respecting their traditions. Currently, Le Savoir Village finances the construction and development of the new Center for Women and pays about ten local people to run it.
Focus on women to develop the villages’ economic opportunities to treat causes of rural exodus
Your support is decisive for this impulse to become a sustainable project.
